World Games

The World Games are the Olympic Games for non Olympic sports. It's already the 8th edition. The Games will take place from the 16th till the 26th of July in Kaohsiung, a harbor town in Taïwan. For Belgium, 46 athletes will compete in 11 different sportactivities. The objective for these 46 athletes is to win 8 medals.
National trainer/coach for Belgium - Roland Deroo - wants to do his share and win at least one medal for Belgium in the speedskating discipline. Three Belgian athletes earned their selection during the World Championships in Gijon last year. Especially former World Champion and current multiple European Champion Wouter Hebbrecht (Evergem) has a burning desire to win a medal for his homecountry. Ferre Spruyt (Heverlee) and Kwinten Tas are outsiders for the medium and long distance competitions.
 Following distances (track) will be competed during these World Games :
 
 300m timetrial, 500m sprint, 1000m inline, 10km combination and 15km elimination.
 
Rollerspeed competition takes place from the 17th till the 19th of July.
