Belgian national championships

On Saturday the 16th and Sunday the 17th of May the Belgian national championships will be disputed in Zemst (track) and Zandvoorde (road).
Especially at the junior men category the expectations will be high for the Zandvoorde team.   Jore Van den Berghe, Niels Provoost, Arne Derobaix, Tim Sibiet, Siemen Tas... They all achieved a podium place this year during one or another big tournament. They couldn't hide the good shape during the last weeks of competition.

In the seniores men category also great expectations from the 'brotherhood' Mulders. Bart, Wouter & Karel achieved at Gross-Gerau (Germany) a silver medal in the relay game and beated some strong teams. Furthermore some curiosity to the performance of Kwinten Tas and Stijn Van Hove. Much of our Belgian athletes performed very well during the springseason. Of course the synergy between the Heverlee athletes as Bart Swings & Ferre Spruyt, who dominated the spring season abroad, put them in pole position.

Of course the Zandvoorde athletes hope to win a lot of metal. Not only for the medals as such, but the results will also be determinative for the selection of athletes who will delegate in July/August during the European championships. The E.C. which will be held this year at the 'mundialpiste' at Zandvoorde, the roadcircuit at Zandvoorde & marathon in the citycentre of Oostende.

The road championships at Zandvoorde will also be a first test for the European championships… Of a home advantage cannot be spoken however. The asphalt has been renewed entirely last Tuesday so practise was impossible untill then. Games start at 10 o'clock a.m., access is free.
