Bart Swings (RSC Heverlee) has won the Belgian championships marathon in his hometown quiet effortless.
On a very selective road circuit in Heverlee, Ferre Spruyt attacked within the first kms. His jump was countered, but shortly afterwards Bart Swings 'escaped to victory'. Spruyt blocked all the efforts from the other teams and Bart took rather fast a 20 second bonus. The only one that made the bridge to Bart Swings was his own brother Maarten. Together the bonus increased up to 40".
Maarten left the race at half course, the moment for Bart to speed up the pace and taking a lap on all his competitors. In a sparkling finish Ferre Spruyt kept a small advantage for the silver medal. Junior Jore Van den Berghe (ZRC Zandvoorde) ended third.
In the ladies race Britta Vantournhout (ZRC Zandvoorde) and Jessica Gaudesaboos (Fratelli Team Mechelen) took quiet fast a lap. Britta sprinted to gold, Jessica achieved silver. Junior Anke Vos (Reko Zemst) ended up third.
Superiority in the boys scholieren category (cadets) for Mathias Vosté (Inline Team Brugge) who won the quarter marathon. Kevin Bailly (Reko Zemst) and Yannis Vandebeeck (RSC Heverlee) finshing second and third. In the girls category victory for Vera Huys (RSC Heverlee) before Ellen Van De Catsye (Reko Zemst) and Sandrine Tas (ZRC Zandvoorde).
